Stewardship: Sharing Our Gifts

The Catholic Foundation for Stewardship and Charitable Giving exists to help strengthen the Mission of Christ in the Diocese of Tucson by supporting activities that enable each person in the diocese to share their gifts with one another. This blog is designed to be a resource for pastors, parish staff and volunteers as we work together to provide for the stewardship of time, talent and treasure within our parish communities

Stewardship Prayer for March

God of mercy,

You have given us this special time to reflect on our lives, believe in the Good News and draw closer to You.
May this season of Lent help us be good stewards of this time: to fast and pray, be more generous and show others how to live in Christ.
Let us see each day of this season as a new opportunity to renew our lives and gain a deeper appreciation of Your active presence
in us and our community of faith.
Give us the grace to see Your face in others, especially the poor and those who suffer.
And through your Spirit, enkindle in us the fire of Your love
so that we may be better stewards of Your redeeming work throughout the world.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Stewardship Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,

You call us to love You and to love others with our hearts, our souls, our minds and with all our strength.

By your Holy Spirit and relying on the prayer of your Mother Mary, we commit ourselves to grow in your grace and to carry your Presence to a world that is often hurting, lonely and separated from You.

Be strength in our weakness.  Place in us a humble heart to pray, to serve, to share and to witness.  Use us as instruments to draw others to come to know You, to love You and to serve You.  Bless us with a great passion for living the mission You have given to us.

Together, we give You all praise and glory as our mighty Savior and our loving God.

Stewardship Thoughts

"The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness." Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

"The man who can hold his tongue has enormous inner strength. It is a telltale sign of virtue. It is likely he who cannot control his tongue has lost control in other areas of his life as well." Matthew Kelly

"Apart from the cross, there is no other ladder by which we may get to Heaven." St. Rose of Lima

"Prosperity can bring a false sense of security based on our achievements and wealth rather than on trust in God. It also can lead to indifference towards the plight of those less well off than ourselves instead of compassionate concern for them." Scripture Union USA

"It has been said that one of the ways that Satan works in our lives is to make us 'remember what we should forget' and to 'forget what we should remember.'" Catholic Stewardship Consultants

"Coincidences happen more often when you pray." Unknown

Stewardship Definitions

"A Christian steward receives God's gifts gracefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others, and returns them with increase to the Lord."
