CORNERSTONE GALA SETS RECORD!

TUCSON, May 2, 2007 — The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson held its 21st annual Cornerstone Gala on Friday, April 20th at the J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson. The event, which was attended by more than 500 guests, raised $100,000 for charitable works of the Foundation.

The theme of the event was "A Choice Well Made — A Century of Priesthood." Dave Sitton served as Master of Ceremonies. The Most Reverend Gerald F. Kicanas and Reverend Edward C. Carscallen received the Cornerstone Award for their years of service to the Diocese of Tucson. Among the guest were Laurel Wilkening and Godfrey Sill; Carmen Bermudez and Tom Fenney; R.B. "Buck" and Bobbie O’Rielly; Bill and Betsy Bowen; David and Linda Tansik; Ginny Clements; Victor and Patty Arida; Peter and Pat Likins; and Paul Zucharelli.

During the event the Catholic Foundation announced the distribution of nearly $140,000 in grants. Among the grant recipients were Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona; St. Augustine Cathedral; Holy Angels School, Globe; St. John the Evangelist School; and St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Superior. The Catholic Foundation was established in 1981 to provide support for religious, educational and charitable works in the Diocese of Tucson.
