Catholic Foundation Endowments

The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson manages more than 70 endowment funds. These funds have been entrusted to the care of the foundation by donors who have chosen to share of the blessings of their labor for the common good of God’s people. Albert Jean Beraud Sr. Endowment
Resulting from a bequest, income from this endowment is used to provide direct assistance to a child or children in need.

Casa Maria Endowment
Established by Ann Katherine Raskob in 1987, income from this endowment goes to feed the homeless and hungry at Casa Maria soup kitchen.

Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona
This fund was established to provide support for the health and human services programs of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona.

Catholic Community Services in Southeastern Arizona Endowment Fund
Proceeds from this endowment fund assist in meeting the needs of Catholic Community Services in Cochise, Graham, Greenlee and Santa Cruz Counties.

Catholic Social Mission Endowment Fund
This fund receives and holds contributions for Catholic Social Mission, an office of the Diocese of Tucson that promotes Catholic Social Teachings and tradition in areas of social justice and peace.

Joseph Baron Endowment
Established by Ms. Bertha Johnson in memory of her beloved brother, Joseph Baron, this endowment provides funding for counseling for married couples.

Merilac Lodge Endowment
Income from this fund is used to support Merilac Lodge, a residential care facility for teens between ages 12 and 18 who are pregnant and/or parenting a child under one year old.

Nursing Home Pastoral Ministry Fund
Established with a donation from the Catholic Order of Foresters, income from this fund provides Catholic services for those in nursing homes, assisted living centers, hospitals and hospice care.

Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Charitable Works Fund - Miami
This endowment provides for the charitable outreach programs of the parish.

Phillip C. & Clara Read Memorial Fund
Established through a gift from a revocable trust, income from this endowment is used to help children and the elderly in the greater Tucson area.

St. Elizabeth Health Center Endowment
Income from this endowment fund is used to support St. Elizabeth Health Center in its mission to provide vital health care services for the segment of the community caught in between: not eligible for public assistance yet not able to afford private care or private insurance coverage.

St. Pancras Endowment
Established by an anonymous donor income from this endowment fund is used to help the poor.

Paul James & Mary Anita Benson Memorial Fund
This endowment was established through a bequest in 2002. Income from this endowment fund provides scholarships for students at Yuma Catholic High School.

Catholic School Assistance Fund
This fund was established to provide assistance to needy schools.

Gerard Guerin Memorial Fund

This endowment was established in 2006 in memory of Gerard Guerin a parent at St. Cyril School. Income from this fund goes to support athletic programs at the school.

Holy Angel School - Globe
This endowment provides for the operating needs of Holy Angels School in Globe, Arizona.

Immaculate Conception Education Endowment - Yuma
This endowment provides income for Immaculate Conception School in Yuma, Arizona.

Immaculate Heart School - Tucson
This endowment supports the educational mission of Immaculate Heart Academy and Immaculate Heart High School.

Jamie Lang Memorial Fund

This endowment was established in 2007 in memory of Jaime Lang a parent at St. Cyril School. Income from this fund goes to support athletic programs at the school.

Mr. & Mrs. Laumer C. Leonard Catholic Education Endowment Fund
Established by Mrs. Sally Leonard following the death of her husband, Laumer, income from this endowment fund is used to provide tuition support for financially disadvantaged children, special projects and equipment needs.

Lestonnac Pre-K and Kindergarten School - Douglas

This fund produces income which supports the educational mission of the school.

Stella Longo Education Endowment
Established by Louis J. and Lori M. Giovannini, in honor of Ms. Stella Longo, income from this endowment fund is used to support St. Cyril of Alexandria School in Tucson.

Pat and Marilou Lopez Endowment
Established by the donors to support Catholic schools in the Diocese of Tucson.

Loretto Catholic School - Douglas

Income from this fund goes to support the educational mission of the school.

Lourdes Catholic High School - Nogales
Income from this fund assists in meeting the needs of Lourdes Catholic High School in Nogales, Arizona.

Michael H. O'Brien Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship endowment fund was established in memory of Michael H. O'Brien to provide scholarships for children of registered parishioners of St. Joseph Parish in Tucson who attend the parish school.

St. Ambrose School - Tucson
Income from this endowment goes to support the educational mission of the school.

St. Andrew K-12 Tuition Assistance Endowment
Established by an anonymous donor in 2010, this endowment provides tuition assistance to students in the Sierra Vista/Ft. Huachuca area who attend Catholic school.

St. Andrew Post High School Endowment Fund

Established by an anonymous donor in 2010, this endowment provides scholarships to young adults in the Sierra Vista/Ft. Huachuca area seeking post high school education.

St. Anthony of Padua School - Casa Grande
The parish established this endowment in 1996 to support the educational needs of the school.

St. Augustine Catholic High School - Tucson
Income from this endowment fund goes to support the educational mission of St. Augustine Catholic High School.

St. Charles School - San Carlos

Established in 1994 with an initial gift from the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament; income from this endowment fund goes to support St. Charles Mission School, located on the San Carlos Apache Nation.

St. Cyril School Education Endowment - Tucson
This endowment fund was established in 1991 by donors to receive and hold gifts income from this fund goes to support various school programs and projects.

St. Francis of Assisi School - Yuma

Established by the parish in 1993, income from this fund is used to support the educational mission of the school.

St. John the Evangelist School - Tucson
This endowment fund was established to provide support for the educational mission of the school.

St. Joseph School Education Endowment - Tucson

This endowment fund was established in 1995 to receive and hold funds for the benefit of St. Joseph School.

St. Thomas the Apostle School - Tucson
Income from this endowment fund is used to support educational programs of St. Thomas the Apostle Pre-Kindergarten School.

San Miguel High School - Tucson

Income from this endowment fund is used to support the educational mission of San Miguel High School.

San Xavier Mission School - Tucson
Funded in part through a trust, income from this fund goes to support San Xavier Mission School in the San Xavier District of Tohono O'odham Nation.

Santa Cruz Catholic School - Tucson

Income from this endowment fund goes to support the educational programs of the school.

Snyder Ranch Perpetual Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Mr. and Mrs. John E. Cunningham of Seattle, Washington, income from this endowment fund provides scholarships for students of families of modest means who otherwise could not afford tuition attending Yuma Catholic High School.

Southard Family Scholarship

Established by James and Elsie Southard, income from this endowment fund is used to provide tuition support for needy students at St. Joseph School in Tucson.

Yuma Catholic High School - Yuma
Income from this endowment fund is used to support the various programs and projects of Yuma Catholic High School.

Liesel R. Zimmt Scholarship Endowment
Established in memory of Liesel R. Zimmt, income from this fund goes to a graduating senior from San Miguel High School to support their college education.

Established by a donor, this endowment provides income which supports ministries of the parish.

Our Lady of the Valley Parish - Green Valley
This endowment receives and holds funds to provide for the needs of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Green Valley.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish - Tombstone
This endowment was established by the parish in 1995 to receive and hold gifts; income from this fund goes to support Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

St. Andrew the Apostle Parish - Sierra Vista
This endowment was established to receive and hold gifts to provide for the long term needs of the parish.

St. Augustine Cathedral - Tucson
Established with a gift from Mr. Michael H. O'Brien and others, income generated from this endowment is used to meet the needs of the parish.

St. Cyril of Alexandria Parish - Tucson
Established with an initial gift from the estate of Ms. Marie Debois, income from this fund is used to support outreach ministries of the parish.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish - Tucson
Established in memory of Mr. Richard (Dick) W. Stringer, income from this endowment is used to support the needs of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.

St. Francis de Sales Parish - Tucson
Established with gifts from a number of donors, including a bequest from Mr. John M. Granberry, Jr., income from this endowment fund is used to support the needs of the parish.

St. Helen Parish - Eloy
This endowment fund was established by the parish to receive and hold contributions income from this fund is used to support the parish.

St. Odilia Parish - Tucson
Income from this endowment fund is used to support St. Odilia Parish.

St. Patrick Parish - Bisbee
Established with an initial gift from Ms. Ruth Whitehead, income from this endowment fund goes to support the various programs and projects of the parish.

St. Rose of Lima Parish – Safford
Income from this endowment fund is used to support St. Rose of Lima Parish in Safford.

St. Thomas More Newman Center - Tucson
This endowment was established in 1997 income from this fund is used to provide scholarships to students attending the University of Arizona who are actively involved at the Newman Center.

San Solano Mission - Topawa
Income from this endowment fund goes to support ministry work on the main reservation of the Tohono O'odham Nation including the missions at Topawa, Chuichu, Pisinemo and Sells.

Religious Endowments

Cornerstone Endowment Fund
This fund was established in 2001 by the Board of Directors of the Catholic Foundation from proceeds from the Annual Dinner in honor of Bishop Manuel D. Moreno's 20th anniversary. Income from this fund is distributed to meet the most pressing needs in the Diocese.

Education of Seminarians Endowment
Established through a bequest by long time Diocesan archivist, Catherine 'Kit' Dougherty, income from this endowed fund is used to support the education of seminarians.

General Endowment for the Diocese of Tucson
Income from this fund is used to further religious and charitable activities in the Diocese of Tucson.

Bishop Francis J. Green Endowment
Established in honor of Bishop Francis J. Green, the fourth Bishop of Tucson and one of the original incorporators of the Catholic Foundation, income from this fund provides for the on-going formation of priests in the Diocese of Tucson.

Robert J. and Ann D. Huot Endowment
Established by Mr. Robert J. Huot in memory of his late wife Ann D. Huot income is used to provide scholarships to men studying to be priests in the Diocese of Tucson.

Hughes Family Trust
Established by Msgr. Don H. Hughes, income from this fund is used to support the Diocesan newspaper.

Msgr. Don H. Hughes Memorial Fund
Established through a bequest, income from this fund is used for the works of the Lord in the Diocese of Tucson as may be directed from time to time by the Bishop of Tucson.

Bishop Manuel D. Moreno Fund for Vocations
Established with a gift from the estate of Bishop Moreno income from this fund is used to support vocations programs in the Diocese of Tucson.

Pope John Paul II Endowment for Youth
Established by gifts from numerous donors, income from this fund is used to support youth ministry programs in the Diocese.

Edward Rosettie Memorial Fund
Established in memory of Edward Rosettie, beloved brother of Msgr. Frederick D. Rosettie, income from this endowment is used to support financially disadvantaged parishes.

Serra Club Endowment
Established by the Friends of Serra Club of Tucson in 2003, income from this endowment fund is used to support seminarians.
