Annual Catholic Appeal

Through the Annual Catholic Appeal, parishes work together to provide funding for 26 uniquely Catholic charities and ministries that truly do answer God's call to serve.

Among those charities and ministries are programs that address spiritual, health, and social needs.  That nourish the spirit with the Word of God, that speak with and for the oppressed, that support vocations, and that help hand on the gift of Faith to future generations.

When you support the Annual Catholic Appeal, you do more than just provide financial support – you change lives:

VocationsYou help our Diocese to deepen faith by recruiting more vocations to the priesthood and religious life through your prayers and personal outreach. You help our Diocese to invite your family members and friends who feel distant from the Church to come home. And you help our Diocese to strengthen our ministries to our teens and young adults and to evangelize so that all may know the love of Christ.

Catholic EducationYou support programs that encourage and train parish religious education teachers that support and enhance the special mission of our Catholic Schools. You help your diocese to reach out to those who are divorced and separated to bring them back to their faith. And, you provide hope to members of a diverse Catholic family through Native American Mission, Pastoral Care Ministry and Detention Ministry.

Every gift enhances ministries that strengthen and support marriage and family life. You help your Diocese reach out to the littlest and weakest among us through the office of Life and Human Dignity and Catholic Community Services. You help your Diocese to proclaim and protect the dignity of all human life from conception to natural death. You help your Diocese to care for the retired priests who answered God’s call. And you help to communicate the news and history of our Diocese through the New Vision Catholic Newspaper and Archives.

The goal for the Annual Catholic Appeal this year is to raise $3.7 Million. The Annual Catholic Appeal funds 35% of the total projected budget for all Diocesan offices and ministries. The other 65% comes from the parish assessment, investment income, and fees for services. Below is a listing of the charities and ministries that receive funding from the Annual Catholic Appeal.

The best way this extraordinary amount of money can be raised is to encourage people to pledge a certain amount and then pay it over several months. All payments must be received no later than December 31, 2013 to be counted in the 2013 Campaign. The Annual Catholic Appeal is the primary way by which the Diocese raises money for its charities and ministries.

Donations to the ACA are RESTRICTED gifts to be used in support of its 26 charities and ministries ONLY and are NOT used to satisfy other Church obligations. The Catholic Foundation is a separately incorporated 501(c)3 entity with a board of directors that oversees the allocation and distribution of donations to the ACA.
